Synthetic rattan is a tough man-made fibre produced from high-quality polyethylene, which is far more durable than its natural cane counterpart. Though, the fibres are hand-woven in exactly the same way as natural rattan garden furniture is constructed.

Quality PE rattan garden furniture is incredibly durable and is also UV stabilised, which helps prevent any fading due to prolonged sun exposure. Unlike natural cane rattan, PE rattan is also frost resistant so it's able to withstand any inclement weather - from blazing sun to icy rain.

Should you cover your rattan garden furniture every night?
During the summer months there's no need to cover your rattan furniture if you're using it regularly. But while rattan garden furniture is hard wearing, covers can definitely help protect your furniture from rain and snow in the colder months.
They also protect against bird droppings and rotting leaves, which if left can stain. The frames can be easily cleaned with just a hose or jet wash. To remove any tougher grime we recommend using a simple mix of hot soapy water and a soft bristle brush.
When not using your rattan patio furniture you should always store your cushions. If you opt for a cover, you can leave your cushions underneath the cover during the spring and summer months.
The majority of outdoor cushions are designed to be showerproof - meaning that if you forget to bring them in and they get caught in a light shower, they should dry relatively quickly but should not be left outside in a downpour.
We would always recommend that you bring your cushions indoors or store them in a suitable garage or shed off the ground during the colder months, to prevent mould and mildew forming.
